Steampunk AT-AT WIP 001

Description

I've been wanting to make a Steampunk version of the AT-AT walkers from The Empire Strikes Back (Star Wars) for a while now.

The thing about the AT-AT's is that they are in fact, some kind of a steampunk concept already. Since they're a crude technology interpretation of the original attack african elephant units, which where used both for troop transport and where the ancient version of a tank.

So in order to accomplish a more definite steampunk look I went for the old steamboat look, combined with the old steam engine train.
Thus, I'm referencing from old trains and a bit from old steamboats.
The main body HAS to have a gargantuan steam tank, which will connect with all the gears and pulleys that will make the legs work.
This is taking me a bit because I'm trying to box model most of the details and also accomplish fine details like almost all the rivets are also part of the textures, so they're not separate sphere objects.
If I don't do it this way, I'll end up with so many separate objects used to give the AT-AT as much detail as possible, that when I try to finally render in Mental Ray, I'll probably only get crashes on 3ds Max.

This render of course, is scanline, no actual high quality textures there, the bump maps will be re-used when I apply the mental ray textures.

For now, I'd appreciate feedback. I'm quite happy with the results so far, it's beginning to have a very classic steampunk look, don't you think?
